Application Requirements
Applications for CBV Institute membership are submitted online. In order to apply for membership, an individual must meet the following requirements:
- University degree. Note: this requirement may be waived for individuals holding a CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) designation, or a CPA (Chartered Professional Accountant) designation (or the legacy CA (Chartered Accountant), CMA (Certified Management Accountant) or CGA (Certified General Accountant) designations).
- Successful completion of the CBV Institute Program of Studies.
- Successful completion of the Membership Qualification Exam.
- Meet the CBV Institute’s experience requirement (1,500 hours of valuation experience, at least 750 of which must be core valuation experience).
- Be a person of good character and reputation.

Note: Individuals who hold a university degree, have completed the Program of Studies, have sufficient experience hours, and who wrote the MQE in September of a particular year may apply for membership on a conditional basis (after the date of the MQE and before the November 3 intake deadline). If such individuals are successful on the MQE, they will be approved for membership in early December.
