In most instances, the utilization of a minority discount to determine the fair market value of a shareholder(s) non-controlling interest in a company is generally accepted.  What is often disputed between parties is the quantum of this discount, as the determination of such a discount is subjective in nature.  This presentation will discuss situations when a minority discount is applicable, the factors to consider when quantifying a minority discount, and provide an overview of court decisions that have ruled on the utilization and quantification of minority discounts.
