Crowe Soberman LLP is more than one of Canada’s premier independent chartered professional accounting firms. We are a group of passionate people, delivering meaningful results to our clients. We are looking for a dedicated Specialist to join our Valuations|Forensics|Litigation (VFL) team.

Position Summary

To take responsibility for the completion of files in a broad range of forensic accounting engagements, primarily related to business valuation, insurance, or litigation accounting. A specialist in our VFL team will have exposure to various forms of litigation, including Insurance Claims, Commercial Claims, Shareholder Disputes, Matrimonial Disputes, Estate Matters, Professional Negligence Matters, etc.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

The successful incumbent will receive appropriate training to perform the following:

  • Compile data, analysis and recommendations with respect to loss or damage quantification
  • Analyze data and assist in the preparation of business valuations;
  • Prepare detailed analysis of accounting records and other personal and corporate financial information;
  • Consult with clients, client’s counsel and representatives of insurance companies;
  • Conduct interviews/meetings with relevant persons;
  • Prepare expert reports for client claims or disputes;
  • Participate actively in practice development activities such as meetings with referral sources, conference exhibits, writing articles; and
  • Undertake ongoing training and development to keep abreast of changes and current issues in the field of forensic accounting and business valuation.

Qualifications:

  • CPA, CA designation
  • Understanding of financial statements, personal finances, employment records, etc.

Key Competencies:

  • Willingness to pursue CBV designation;
  • Advance knowledge of MS Word and Excel;
  • Ability to perform thorough quantitative analysis;
  • Investigative mindset;
  • Keen attention to detail along with an ability to focus on the overall concepts;
  • Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced and changing environment with tight deadlines;
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills;
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills (comfortable making contact with clients; conscious of client relations and expectations);
  • Strong organizational skills and;
  • Ability to work efficiently within budgets so that multiple assignments can be handled simultaneously.
