Join the momentum. We are seeking an Analyst for our growing Valuations team. Committed to delivering real value to organizations, MNP is a leading national accounting, tax and business consulting firm in Canada. Through our trusted Valuations team, our Chartered Business Valuators and Accredited Appraisers work with our extensive network of industry specialists to deliver independent, concise valuations assessments in a wide range of areas. These include, business valuations, intangible assets, financial reporting requirements, property tax recovery, fairness opinions, litigation support, and appraisal services.

Performance Expectations

  • Build and prepare technical based analysis such as projections, forecasts and/or models in Excel
  • Conduct industry and economic research as it pertains to clients’ needs
  • Utilize MNP research tools to determine market-based valuation multiples
  • Participate in the proposal process and help support the implementation, administration and completion of client engagements
  • Support the design, development, formatting and proof reading of high-quality professional reports
  • Support the delivery of high-quality client service by ensuring client needs are responded to in a timely, accurate and professional manner
  • Attend internal MNP courses to further develop your Valuations knowledge
  • Work directly with senior staff to deliver business valuations, intellectual property valuations, fairness opinions, financial modelling and purchase price allocations
  • Assist in the execution of valuations for engagements requiring transaction pricing, regulatory and financial reporting, income tax or estate planning and strategic decision making
  • Assist in the preparation of cash flow and valuation models to arrive at value
  • Interact with senior staff across practice areas and the national firm
  • Assist in the execution of corporate finance engagements for clients including the research and identification of new markets or targets and the process management of mergers, acquisitions and divestitures
  • Participate in the delivery of private placement and syndication of debt, junior capital and equity
  • Conduct, interpret and analyse business and market research using mediums applicable to the client business such as industry and government written documentation, interviews with customers and competitors and information gathered in site visits
  • Build and prepare technical based analysis such as projections, forecasts and/or models in Excel
  • Keep up to date on market trends and contribute to the development of new ideas and approaches in order to assess and improve current approaches
  • Assist in preparing correspondence, technical reports, client summaries and presentations outlining findings, facts and highlights resulting from the client engagement
  • Coordinate project logistics with clients and other stakeholders consistent with project plans
  • Collaborate with the client engagement team prior to commencement of client work to discuss roles and responsibilities, risk areas, materiality and deadlines
  • Monitor project timelines against targets and adjust where necessary; advise clients of project status and seek clarification on discrepancies where applicable
  • Network and take a leadership role in the local professional, business, and community while raising awareness of MNP and looking for new business development opportunities
  • Promote MNP advisory services through the delivery of presentations, writing articles, facilitating workshops or participating in community activities
  • Promote regular attendance, balanced lifestyle and high standard of team wellness
  • Attend internal MNP courses to further develop knowledge around performance improvement Develop a thorough understanding of MNP’s services, businesses and industry

Credentials

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably with a specialization in accounting or finance
  • 1 to 2 years of experience at a professional services firm, ideally in financial analysis and valuations
  • Strong computer literacy including effective working skills of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Willing to or already enrolled in the Chartered Business Valuator (CBV) program
  • Some travel may be required
